A yoga teacher certified by the Hatha Yoga Center Seattle, Vanessa Wood has been active in the yoga community for 20 years with a dedicated practice of the last 6 years. She guides her students in a yoga practice that emphasizes correct alignment and breathing, aiding her students in awareness of their bodies both in class and in life.
An equestrian for over 30 years, and an equine bodyworker for 9 years, Vanessa gains strength and grounding in yoga to support and improve her riding, and shares this insight and connection with her students. She teaches yoga to riders, showing them how their practice on the mat flows into awareness of body, of balance, and of union with the horse while riding. Vanessa’s experience as a body worker adds to her depth of knowledge of movement and physiology.
Vanessa is thrilled to teach paddleboard yoga on Puget Sound, combining the rhythm and balance of water with the union, awareness, and enjoyment of yoga practice. The board also ads to intense core developement. Yoga is a stabilizing force in life. Uniting that strength and presence with water in the beautiful setting of Vashon Island’s Quartermaster Harbor is an honor and a delight to share with her students. There is nothing quite like practicing yoga surrounded by the sea balancing with the natural forces and rhythms of nature.
